A Dance for Hope

Now is the time that Gor gears up for Relay For Life activities, last year Goreans raised over 1.5 million lindens for RFL and we haven’t scacked off this year!  There are your Jail & Bails and Tarn Races, Sword Tournaments and Dances.  Saturday was one of the dances.

Ramius popped into my IMs on the Monday before and informed me that one of the strongest supporters of Gorean dance and RFL, Lady Hope Chatterbox, was stricken with cancer and wasn’t doing well. While we were reminiscing he proposed a dance exhibition to raise money for RFL and to honor Lady Hope. I, of course, volunteered to dance and he got me to assist in the set up too.  After a frenzied week of getting it together the City of Fina, and Lady Hope’s homestone, hosted it.  I was pleased to have 9 other dancers pop up after the notice went out waving and chirping me, me, me! I want to dance!  The ranks swelled to 11 at one point but settled at 7 on the day.

Each dancer delivered, even with short notice, stunning dances! Kudos to Taema, Sugar Rush, Snow, Maddy, Iris, Maia for joining me in the pit and we opened with the wonderful Phoenix dancers to get the ball rolling.

We managed to raise a whopping 15,000 lindens for the cause!

Alas with the sweet comes the bitter, a douchbag that is identified to me as Rossfox Lewellen griefed the sim and managed to lag us out royally.  I couldn’t get my costume swap to go off and in the first 2 minutes of the dance, my dance hud vanished then reappeared in off mode.  I scrambled to hand key from the list and missed putting out a post but such is life in the dance world.  I felt horrible, like a ugly duckling amongst the swans but I was told by several (and if it was to sooth my feelings…bless them) that they only noticed my costume issue.  The first photo below is my Lady Hope in her Robes, then I was to morph into the second photo, the dancer.

Lady H1

Lady H6

I called the dance The Heart of a Dancer, and the music was Nadia’s Theme.

I jumped in without a second thought even though Lady Hope was not a close friend because she was there when I needed her.  Two of the emotes from my dance:

Lowering to the ground, remembering ones she picked up when they felt attacked and defeated, words of encouragement to bandage wounds and a push back to the sands.  They must be protected, these lissome beings in the sands. Guided and watched over by those  with the heart of a dancer!

Languid dips and turns belie the emotion of the memories of battles in the past, fighting for integrity, unity and well-being for the dancers of this world, light laughter tumbles out remembering those who underestimated this Free Woman.

She is indeed a strong force to be dealt with if she thinks a dancer has been wronged or someone or ones is attacking the dance community, few judges or organizers know Gorean dance as she does. If we lose her…never before will the dance community of Gor have suffer such a great loss, and there will never be another to take her place.

Abydos don’t

The Abydos dance competition was plagued with the same issues as Halfa but magnified 50 times.  We dancers were there early but most could not move, dance HUDs were locked up and the crowds had not even arrived!  A sim restart was ordered up but that didn’t help.  Another Master graciously offered up his dance venue and we all trouped over and took to the pit.  Many of the 8 girls were new to dancing, on some it showed more than others. One masturbating girl droned on and my IMs were lit up with groans and vomiting sounds. Two showed great promise when they learn less is more. Kellen rocked the house in my opinion.  My dance wobbled a bit at the start due to DJ issues, her SAM was acting up, but went well.  As usual I was too scared to cam around to take picks…I always seem to crash.  the final tally was Alexa first, Kellen second and yours truly third.   Master was proud and pleased having only been able to make the last bit of the contest.  It was a relief to step in the pits after a absence and do well.

The PK hated Halfa today!!

A group of lovelies were set to dance this afternoon at Halfa including Iris from TPB, this was a faction style dance as Halfa is famous for the school teaching it.  The first dancer, Perle made it through despite some audio glitches and did a lovely dance then like a sandworm from Dune, the Lag monster swallowed up the next 2 dancers!  Poor girls, one was halfway through hers and crashed and was moved to the last, where she crashed again and surrendered. One girl never even made it to the pit. Poor Iris, if not nervous enough, we were all joking about it was a good thing she had a tether dance, the tether might come in handy!  No worries tho, she got out there and owned that quicksand!  Those other dancers who made it alive off the sands had great dances and I enjoyed them all.  The wonderful Babypea enthralled us with a dance while the tally was made and it came as no surprise to me Iris took the prize.

Busy day in the world of Gor

Tarn’s Point Bay hosted its first dance contest today, the theme was Earth Girl and there were some great dances!  The winner featured a gramophone playing “La vie en rose”, beautifully done.  One dance disappointed me, it was oblivious the dance had already been written and the dancer stuck one sentence nod to the theme.

Maddy and I had hatched a idea for a tandem dance of Spring and Autumn for the opening of the contest. The “Red and Gold” dance was mostly for her Master and my friend Ramius, he has wanted a tandem dance from us for a while and was delighted to finally get one. We got this wild hair a whole week ahead of time and snuck off every time we could to put it together and practice, my poor Master got to see one side of it several times but never they whole thing! Tandem

Turn out was low, but not surprising considering 2 other widely publicist happenings were in conflict.  The lovely city of Fina re-opened.  The kicked it off with several activities including a impromptu dance exhibition and performance by the Fires of Gor Dance Troupe.   It was fun watching several of my friends perform and my world was set to scramble when Master Ramius popped into my IMs asking me to dust off my tavern girl gear and hit the pit.  With a grand 3 minutes to prep I felt my performance was lacking but it was well received and Kami more than made up for it with a fantastic display of tavern dance.

After a bit of time at the Fina sword tourney I got a” join us” at the RFL area, as it was the opening of the fund raising activities, and about 8 dancers crammed into one of the floats with a dance pit and boogied down for pictures.  Several Masters and a FW tripped the light fantastic too and the laughter was overflowing.  I almost forgot! Thanks to Sarah at “The Dancing submissive” for the pics!
